Designing drives for the future with holistic solutions.
Akovis develops holistic engineering solutions for drives, electrification, and hybridization – from concept development through hardware and software to prototype implementation for innovative, efficient machines.
At Akovis, innovative solutions for
the drive of tomorrow are the focus.

Every machine has its own requirements.
That is why our work doesn't start with an off-the-shelf solution but with a blank sheet. We rethink the drive, energy system, and machine consistently and develop a bespoke solution for the specific application. This way, not just an electrified drive is created but an entire system designed from the ground up for its task. This is where our purpose-design approach comes in.
Purpose-design approach as a foundation
This approach aims to consistently align the drive with the specific application requirements and to develop the machine and drive system as a unit from the outset. This results in solutions that enable greater efficiency, improve usability, create new functions, and are economically feasible.
Overview of engineering services:
Development of innovative drive concepts as a foundation for new machine generations.
Implementation of electric and hybrid drive solutions for existing and new systems.
Integration of battery systems and battery management systems (BMS) into the overall system.
Early validation and continuous optimization – from concept to production-ready solution.
Current application examples from the engineering field:
Hatz Concept Cube
The Hatz Concept Cube demonstrates the potential that arises when machines are newly developed in the course of electrification instead of merely replacing existing drive concepts. The goal was to develop a demonstrator that combines new motion functions, high connectivity, and a future-oriented machine concept.
Our Approach
Akovis took on key engineering tasks and consolidated expertise in electrification, mechanics, electronics development, embedded software, and system integration. All disciplines were considered jointly from the start, resulting in a seamless overall system of drive, control, software, and networking. The foundation was a purpose-design approach that fully exploits the possibilities of electric drive technology.
The Result
The result is an electrically driven compactor with enhanced movement capabilities, including curves and diagonal driving. Digital functions and connectivity are integral components of the machine control and not added retrospectively. For Hatz, the Concept Cube serves as proof of innovation and demonstrates the potential of modern electric machine concepts. At the same time, the project highlights Akovis's strength in holistically implementing complex development tasks and realizing innovative solutions through the interplay of engineering, electronics, software, and system integration.

Innovative Honing Machine
Akovis developed the complete control and power electronics for a novel honing machine for the precise control of piezoelectrically mounted honing sticks. By continuously adjusting the honing sticks during rotation, workpieces with freely definable internal contours can be processed.
The Challenge
A particular challenge was integrating all the technology into the available space and developing a performance-optimized final stage architecture for high voltages and currents. The highly dynamic control of the honing stick position was realized using an FPGA-based (Field Programmable Gate Array) control, ensuring the highest temporal precision and maximum processing accuracy.
